Membership application

This page is for NEW MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS ONLY. If you are wanting to renew existing membership, please log in and go to your dashboard and follow the link in the right sidebar.

Your membership application process involves several steps:

  1. Choose the type of membership you want; all sums below include a joining fee (£65 for Ordinary/Junior membership, £30 for Overseas membership), and are for membership through to the end of the 2025 calendar year;
  2. Choose a username for your account on this website (you will be required to verify your email address before you can log in) - but if you already have an account, please log in and some of the data on this form will be prefilled;
  3. Complete the rest of the form;
  4. Continue through to make payment;
  5. Once payment has been received, you will receive email confirmation that it is awaiting processing - you will receive another email when it has been approved (this can take up to two weeks). 
Please note that Overseas membership is only available to those resident outside the UK, Isle of Man and Ireland. To apply for overseas membership, you must enter in the form below a postal address outside those countries. See terms and conditions for Overseas membership here.

Region, mailing & data preferences

Tick any of the SCL regions you wish to receive info about. All members automatically receive info about London events.
Full SCL members who have paid the premium fee can receive papers by post as well as email. They may change this setting. Full SCL members who have paid the discounted fee, and Overseas members, can receive papers by email only.
We will occasionally send you emails from other organisations which SCL considers of particular value to members. Please tick the box if you are happy to receive such emails.
A hard copy of the annual Members Directory is sent to all SCL Premium members by post and in PDF format by email to all SCL Members. If you want to be included in this directory, please tick the box.
Members logged into the website are able to look up contact details of other members who have agreed to appear. Contact information is NEVER available to non-members. If you are happy for your contact details to be included in this on-line database please tick the box.
Please note that all memberships run from January 1 to December 31 each year. Membership fees are prorated for the second half of the year. If you choose to join later in the year please be aware that you will still need to pay a renewal fee for the following calendar year - unless you do this in November or December, in which case your membership payment covers the whole of the following calendar year. You must tick the box below to confirm that you have understood this.
